Karen Kennemur

Assistant Professor of Children's Ministry

Dr. Karen Kennemur received her PhD in Childhood Education at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (SWBTS) where she currently serves as Assistant Professor of Children’s Ministries. Karen received her M.A. in Christian Education at SWBTS and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Baylor University. She has served at various churches in Texas as a weekday director and children’s minister.

Karen was a contributing author in the textbook The Teaching Ministry of the Church (editor—Dr. Rick Yount, 2008) She has written Sunday School, camp, and retreat curriculum. Karen, also works closely with the Southern Baptist of Texas Convention in training church leaders and writing curriculum. She speaks at churches and conferences on topics relating to parenting, children’s and family ministry. Karen mentors students and preschool/children’s ministers. Her passion is to help children and families grow in their love for Christ and become a vital part of the Christian community.

Dr. Kennemur lives in Grand Prairie, Texas with her husband of 30+ years, Danny Kennemur. They have three children, two daughter-in-laws, and two grandchildren. Danny and Karen attend Hillcrest Baptist Church in Cedar Hill, Texas where they both teach in the preschool and lead a ministry to new and expectant parents. Karen, also, trains pre-teens to share the gospel with others. In addition, she is the pre-teen mission-trip trainer for Hillcrest.
