Michael Whitlock

Instructor in Theology

A Texas native, Mr. Whitlock received a BA from Sam Houston State University in 1993 and a MA in theology from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2004. Currently, he is a Ph.D. candidate at Southwestern. He has been teaching theology and history at the College at Southwestern since 2009. His primary research interests are in the Reformation of the sixteenth century focusing mainly on Anabaptism, and in systematic theology, especially the doctrine of justification. His dissertation combines the areas of interest in considering the thought of sixteenth century Anabaptism in reference to justification by faith. In addition, Mr. Whitlock is also a contributor to the upcoming festschrift on Anabaptism in honor of Dr. Paige Patterson published by B&H to be released late in 2013.

Prior to coming to the College at Southwestern, Mr. Whitlock served as pastor of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Mineral Wells, Texas. He has also served in youth ministry on the staff of four other churches in Texas
