Instrumental Studies

The Instrumental Performance concentration is designed to prepare students who demonstrate outstanding performance skills for successful careers conducting church orchestras, private teaching, teaching in colleges or universities, or performance. Acceptance into the concentration is based on an undergraduate degree in instrumental performance or a concentration on the major instrument as part of a degree in a related music field such as music education and the presentation of an acceptable audition. Students who do not have an undergraduate degree or concentration in performance may be admitted to the program by fulfilling undergraduate prerequisites (including a senior recital).

The student has the opportunity to study with outstanding teachers and performers from throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth area, including members of the Fort Worth and Dallas symphony orchestras. The adjunct teacher will be chosen by the student in conjunction with the coordinator of instrumental studies.
