Messiah performance receives rave review

FORT WORTH, Texas (SWBTS) – Music critic Chris Shull gave a glowing review of the recent Bass Hall performance of Handel’s Messiah, Dec. 9. The performance was a collaboration between the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra and Southwestern’s Master Chorale, under the direction of David Thye, professor of church music and Robert L. Burton Chair of Conducting at Southwestern.

The seminary’s Oratorio Chorus first performed Messiah on Dec. 20, 1921, and tradition has continued as a celebration of the Christmas season.
