Student ministers at Lamar University through SBTC intern program

FORT WORTH, Texas (SWBTS) – Through an internship program developed by the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention, Southwestern Seminary student Tony Romero leads First Baptist Church in Vidor, Texas, to reach students at nearby Lamar University in Beaumont. Romero attends classes at Southwestern’s Havard School for Theological Studies in Houston.

As director of collegiate ministry at First Baptist, Vidor, Romero has taught students how to read Scripture for themselves, and he visits the Lamar campus at least twice a week to share the Gospel and promote events. Last year, the college ministry at the church increased from 8 to 30 students under Romero’s leadership.
