The School of Church Music has bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees that will prepare you for ministry. Southwestern’s premier church music degree, the Master of Music, will prepare you for service in any area of music ministry, performance and composition. Nearly half of this degree will train you musically, while the remainder will harmonize your love for music with sound theology and practical ministry knowledge.
Whatever degree option you choose, you can customize your training through focused study in areas such as accompanying, composition, jazz studies, performance and worship. Whatever God calls you to do, Southwestern has a degree program that will help you apply His Word to your music ministry.
The Bachelor of Arts in Music at The College at Southwestern, which is fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music, contains all of the courses in the Bachelor of Arts in Humanities except the languages, physical education, and fine arts. The Bachelor of Arts in Music offers three areas of concentration: Worship, Performance, and Composition.
This degree prepares you for service in any area of music ministry or performance, with nearly half of the degree building upon the musical skills you gained in your bachelor’s studies. The other half of the degree will train you to connect your love for music with sound theology and the realities of ministry.
The Master of Arts in Worship is a unique degree combining theological and worship studies with practical ministry preparation for vocationally called worship leaders. The degree can be completed without leaving your worship leadership position.
Southwestern Seminary offers Ph.D. degrees within each of its schools, providing you the opportunity to gain advanced training in specified areas of theology, archaeology, evangelism and missions, church and family ministries, or church music.
