Equipping Christian Servants with Biblical Wisdom, Sound Doctrine, and Ministerial Skills So That Christ’s Body May Flourish and Glorify God

"He gave . . . some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith . . . As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine." - Ephesians 4:11-14

Southwestern Center for Text-Driven Preaching

Southwestern Seminary’s Center for Text-Driven Preaching is dedicated to training students in the art of text-driven preaching. As defined by David Allen, text-driven preaching is expository preaching in its purest form, where the substance, structure, and spirit of the text drive the substance, structure, and spirit of the sermon. This means preaching the Word of God as inspired by the Spirit of God.

Led by Dr. David Allen, the Southwestern Center for Text-Driven Preaching's faculty has more than 200 years of combined preaching experience, and each brings a unique dynamic to the table, from linguistics and rhetoric to history and evangelistic preaching.
