Seminary mourns passing of Mary Sue Eastland Williams

FORT WORTH, Texas (SWBTS) – Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary mourns the death of Mary Sue Eastland Williams, daughter-in-law to the seminary’s fourth president, J. Howard Williams. Flags around the seminary have been lowered to half-staff in Williams’ memory.
 
Williams was born on July 30, 1928, to Dr. William E. Eastland and Sue Kenyon Eastland, in Oklahoma City, Okla. On August 20, 1949, she married J. Howard Williams, Jr., in Oklahoma City. Williams passed away in Round Rock, Texas, on Friday, April 1. She is survived by her husband, as well as their three children: Jay and his wife Anita, Larry and his wife Jeanene, and Susan and her husband Brian. She is also survived by her grandchildren Stefannie, Tara and Cameron, as well as her great-grandchildren, Hazard and Mara.
 
A visitation will be held at Ramsey Funeral Home at 5600 Williams Drive, Georgetown, TX, on Monday, April 4, from 6-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church, Georgetown, at 2 p.m. on April 5, and a graveside service will follow at Georgetown’s I.O.O.F. Cemetery. In place of flowers, the family has requested that gifts be made in Williams’ name to Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, at P.O. Box 22100, Fort Worth, TX 76122.
