Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary will host a special alumni and friends luncheon during the Baptist General Convention of Texas in Austin Nov. 14.
The luncheon, which will be held at Fleming’s Austin Steakhouse, begins at 11:30 a.m., immediately following the convention’s Session II Workshops. The restaurant is located adjacent to the city’s convention center at 320 East 2nd St.
Harold Riley, a longtime supporter of Southwestern Seminary, is sponsoring the event.
Riley recently transferred a foundation, which he established in 1998, to the seminary. Now known as the Southwestern Seminary Foundation, it will become an integral part of the future financial support of the Fort Worth seminary.
Gary Redding, director of alumni relations at Southwestern, said the seminary is looking forward to having a presence in Austin during the BGCT, even though it has been officially excluded from the convention for the past two years.
“We are still in the business of praying for and supporting the people of BGCT churches in their mission of reaching the lost for Christ,” Redding said. “We anticipate a wonderful time of fellowship.”
