FORT WORTH, Texas (SWBTS) – This fall’s issue of Southwestern News offers an in-depth look into women’s programs at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
In the president’s letter, Paige Patterson clarifies Southwestern’s commitment to provide education ranging from theology to homemaking that complements God’s unique purposes for women, to graduate women grounded in God’s Word to contend with feminism and “to equip women—whether single or a wife and mother—as missionaries who will put everything on the line for Christ.”
First lady Dorothy Patterson provides a thorough paradigm of biblical womanhood straight from Scripture, with suggestions for further reading. The magazine also features a brief biography of Mrs. Patterson’s lifelong commitment to the Gospel, accurately titled, “A Godly Woman to be Praised.”
In addition to coverage of women’s events and organizations, this magazine offers an explanation of the comprehensive programs of ministry training for women straight from the heart of Terri Stovall, dean of women’s programs. Five student profiles provide a face to Stovall’s words as their lives exemplify the principles Stovall describes.
From donors who honor their wives by giving scholarships in their memory to recognizing Southwestern’s outstanding alumni, the true stories in this magazine supply an accurate representation of Southwestern’s dedication to prepare women for Kingdom ministries.
