FORT WORTH, Texas (SWBTS)-Trustees of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, will gather for their semiannual board meeting in the seminary’s Smith Center for Leadership Development, Oct. 15-17.
General sessions are open to the public and media, unless otherwise stated. Times of the general sessions are as follows:
* First General Session, Wednesday, 8:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m., Oct. 17.
* Second General Session, 1:30 p.m.-3:00 p.m., Oct. 17.
* Third General Session, 3:15 p.m.-4:15 p.m., Oct. 17.
This fall, trustees are expected to elect new faculty members and hear reports on improvements and growth at the seminary.
Chapel speakers scheduled for the week are:
Dr. Paige Patterson, President, Southwestern Seminary, Tues., Oct. 16.
Rev. Steven James, seminary trustee and pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, Lake Charles, La., Wed., Oct. 17.
Dr. Thomas White, Vice President for Student Services, Southwestern Seminary, Thurs., Oct. 18.
Chapel services are held in Truett Auditorium starting at 10:50 a.m. and are also open to the public and media.
Directions to Southwestern Seminary: From I-35W, travel west on I-20 to James Avenue. Turn right on James Avenue and travel north approximately one mile. The Smith Center for Leadership Development is located on the southwest corner of James Avenue and West Boyce Avenue.
About Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary
Southwestern Seminary celebrates its centennial in 2008. Since its founding, the seminary has trained and sent out over 40,000 graduates to serve in local churches and mission fields around the world. In 1908, B.H. Carroll established the seminary on the campus of Baylor University. It was moved to its current location on Seminary Hill in Fort Worth in 1910 and was placed under the direction of the Southern Baptist Convention in 1925. Paige Patterson was elected as the eighth president of the seminary in 2003.
