Alumnus leads University of Utah music school

FORT WORTH, Texas (SWBTS) – James E. Gardner, a two-time graduate from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary’s School of Church Music, was chosen to serve as the director in the School of Music at the University of Utah, effective Aug. 1.
“I am thrilled that a Southwestern alumnus is now director of the School of Music at my alma mater,” said Mac Davis, a University of Utah alumnus and professor of music theory and composition at Southwestern Seminary. According to Davis, Gardner is one of Southwestern’s “most successful graduates” in regard to service in the secular academic world.
