Former professor Jerry Augustus Privette dies at 73

FORT WORTH, Texas (SWBTS) – Jerry Augustus Privette, who served as a professor in Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary’s School of Educational Ministries for 21 years, died at the age of 73 on March 15.
Privette was born to Reverend Henry Augustus and Attie Pauline Horton Privette in Jefferson County, SC, on May 3, 1936. He received his Master of Divinity and Ph.D. degrees at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and later served as a pastor and as a consultant for the Baptist Sunday School Board’s Architectural Department. He served at Southwestern Seminary from 1980 to 2001.
Privette is survived by his wife, Linda Bost Privette; their four children, Martin Lewis Privette, Cynthia Elizabeth Privette Davis, Katherine P. Reavis and Gary Winfield Privette; as well as his five siblings, seven grandchildren and two great granddaughters.
