John Mills, “pioneer to West Africa,” passes away
FORT WORTH, Texas (SWBTS) – A Baptist Press article on July 16 honored the late John Mills, the Southwestern graduate (Th.M. 1946) who led “Southern Baptists to nearly triple the number of mission fields in West Africa.” Mills passed away on July 13 at age 87.
Mills is remembered not only for his mission work and service projects with Southern Baptists, which defied the expectations of government ministers, but for his Texan drawl and dry sense of humor, reported Baptist Press.
