Lugubrious Prognostications on the Supreme Court

Amid all of the lugubrious prognostications about the Supreme Court decision on same sex marriage, may I risk the ire of many by suggesting that this is a good thing? Certainly, it is unfortunate to see our country move to exceed the liberalism of Europe. Sadness must be in the heart of every Christ-honoring, Bible-believing follower of the Lord over the moral implications of the ruling and its devastating effect on the social order. More eloquently stated by a hundred others, yet I, too, sense the panic of attempting to negotiate our Brave New World.

RAC camps offer summertime fun for children

With summer in full swing, parents looking for fun activities for their children were able to take advantage of a week of football, basketball and soccer at the sports camp at Southwestern’s Recreation and Aerobics Center (RAC), June 8-11. Children in third through eighth grade participated in the four-day camp designed to introduce them to healthy and fun activities as well as teach them the fundamental skills of each sport. Jared Howard, director of the RAC, says the camp also gives campers a setting to “practice these skills in friendly, low-pressure competition.”

Gospel-sower’s passion heightened by week of evangelistic emphasis

Bachelor of Arts student Marla Rasberry was already a passionate evangelist, but after participating in Crossover, an evangelistic push that took place in Bexley, Ohio, prior to the Southern Baptist Convention’s annual meeting in Columbus, June 8-13, her zeal for reaching the lost with the Gospel has reached new heights. Reflecting on the week, she says, “It changed my life because it ignited that passion even more so that [now] I’m not going to let anything hinder me.”

Inaugural ‘Tea at 3’ a success

COLUMBUS, Ohio—On June 15, Southwestern Seminary hosted its first-ever “Tea at 3” during the annual meeting of the Southern Baptist Convention. The event was standing-room-only as nearly 200 women filled the space to share tea, scones and fellowship.
