The Horner Homemaking House, named after its primary donors, Andy and Joan Horner, is not your typical educational building. Equipped with a teaching kitchen, clothing and textiles lab, formal dining room and parlor in addition to the library and classrooms, this academic building will house the College at Southwestern students working toward a B.A. in Humanities with a concentration in homemaking.

"Having a facility that truly models the home environment will allow students to put into practice the foundational principles learned in the classroom. This is an exciting and practical way to impact a future generation of families in a way no other conservative theological institution can," Terri Stovall, dean of women's programs, says.

The home is scheduled to be complete in the Spring, and classes will be held there beginning in the fall semester of 2009. The Horners' gracious gift will provide a place for Southwestern to gain ground in restoring the biblical foundation of the home.
