The School of Church Music and Worship (SCMW) at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary has announced four full-tuition scholarships and one partial assistance scholarship for Southern Baptist master’s and doctoral residential students, respectively, who are not currently enrolled in the academic programs at the Fort Worth-based institution.

“Thanks to an incredibly generous gift to the School of Church Music and Worship designated for music and worship student scholarships, we will be thrilled to welcome five more God-called men and women to join our growing SWBTS residential seminary family,” said Joseph R. Crider, dean of the SCMW.

The scholarships will benefit two students who enroll in the 59-credit hour Master of Music in worship leadership degree program, two students who enroll in the 49-credit hour Master of Music in church music degree program, and one student who will receive a one-year assistantship, beginning in January 2025, in the Doctor of Philosophy in Christian worship degree program.

Interested scholarship applicants must be accepted through the Office of Admissions at Southwestern. Applicants should indicate interest in the scholarships by using “SCMW scholarship” in the waiver code of the application for admission. Additionally, scholarship applicants will complete interviews and auditions for the scholarships, with in-person and virtual options available. Scholarship applicants will also provide two letters of recommendation that are specific to the scholarship of interest, a personal ministry vision statement, and a scholarship application form.

Non-Southern Baptist students are welcome to apply for the scholarships and if chosen, the funding will apply to the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) portion of their tuition.

More scholarship information is available on the seminary website. For further questions, please contact Crider atjcrider@swbts.edu.
