Dr. David Allen serves as the Dean of the School of Theology, Director of the Center of Biblical Preaching, and Professor of Preaching at Southwestern Seminary. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Arlington. He has served as a pastor and preaching professor for most of his ministry. His publications include “Fundamentals of Genre: How Literary Form Affects the Interpretation of Scripture” in The Art and Craft of Biblical Preaching, ed. Brian Larson and “With a Bible in My Hand: The Preaching Legacy of Dr. W. A. Criswell,” Criswell Theological Review.
Dr. Matthew McKellar serves as Associate Professor of Preaching in the School of Theology. He holds a Ph.D. from Southwestern Seminary. He served as Pastor of Sylvania Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas for more than 20 years before joining the faculty at Southwestern in 2009.
Dr. Vern Charette serves as Associate Professor of Preaching in the School of Theology. He holds a Ph.D. from Southwestern Seminary. Vern continues a highly demanding preaching schedule that keeps him in touch with the local church and missions. He contributes his popularity to his homiletical approach. Vern weds an unflinching commitment to text-driven preaching with the pathos of an evangelist, which makes him rare. Vern's pathos for preaching is contagious in the classroom.
