Online Core Courses
In order to help students plan their schedule more effectively, Southwestern Online offers core courses annually by semester. Each semester electives will also be added to the course list for that particular semester. For instance, normally there is an English Bible book elective every semester. As is the practice with on-campus courses, Southwestern Online may at some point have to cancel a course due to low enrollment.
Since the upcoming semester schedule is currently being revised, please contact your academic advisor for details about classes not listed below.
Online Course Rotation
Master of Theological Studies (MTS) Courses
(These courses are also core courses for the Master of Divinity degree)
Systematic Theology, Old Testament, and New Testament are offered in a set rotation so that a student may complete the requirements either with or without taking classes during the summer. The rotation is currently being revised.
Biblical Hermeneutics (BIBST 3203) is offered every other semester: Fall 2017, Summer 2018, Spring 2019, Fall 2019, and Summer 2020.
Church History courses are offered annually in the following Fall-Spring sequence:

Baptist Heritage (BPTST 3203), Christian Apologetics (PHILO 4373), and Bible and Moral Issues (ETHIC 4323) were required under the previous MTS degree plan. Students who complete these courses in addition to the current 36 hour MTS degree plan, earn The Advanced Master of Theological Studies. The Advanced Master of Theological Studies provides basic theological education in Bible, History, Theology, Ethics, and Apologetics.
Master of Divinity (M.Div.) Courses
Biblical Hebrew and Greek will be offered every Fall-Spring in the regular format as well as every summer in the Turbo Format. The Turbo Format covers both semesters of the language in one fast-paced semester.
