Dr. James has served in the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost at Southwestern since 2006.  He assumed the role of Assistant Vice President for Academic Administration and Assistant Professor of Systematic Theology in the College at Southwestern in 2015.  He has served the church in a number of part-time roles and as pastoral supply.

Dr. James’ current research is in the area of eschatology, focusing specifically on the growing interest upon a renewed earth upon which the redeemed will live.  He is currently working on a book that flows from his dissertation that will introduce the various forms of new creationism.  His research interests also include the nature of prophecies regarding the restoration of Israel. 

Dr. James completed the B.B.A. at the University of Georgia so he is a lifelong Georgia Bulldog fan.  After leaving Georgia for the state of Texas, he completed the M.Div., Th.M., and Ph.D. in Systematic Theology at Southwestern.  He is a member of the Evangelical Theological Society.  Dr. James is married to Heather and they have four children, Annalee, Abigail, Samuel, and LilaRae.  They have been members of Rock Creek Baptist Church in Crowley, TX for nearly 10 years.
