“...‘Heritage of Hymns’? Simply in the heavenlies!”

Paige Patterson
President, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary

Famed composer and pianist Dr. Don Wyrtzen has teamed up with long-time friend and pastor-singer Dr. Bruce McCoy to present “Heritage of Hymns” concerts. Your church or senior adult group will hear inspiring hymns, stories behind the songs, and a spiritual challenge to strengthen their heritage of faith. And yes, Don and Bruce will take requests!

Don Wyrtzen is known around the world as “the Poet of the Piano.” His majestic musical compositions and arrangements including favorites like “Worthy is the Lamb” and “Finally Home” have enriched the lives of believers for decades. His musicals have sold more than 2 million copies. He is a scholar with degrees from Moody Bible Institute, The King’s College, Dallas Theological Seminary, and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Don is a leading musician and statesman in Christian music. He has lectured on church music, worship and hymnology in leading Christian colleges and seminaries.

Bruce is a singing preacher and former president of the Missouri Baptist Convention. He is a Liberty University alumnus and a seminary graduate. He is also credentialed in philanthropy management through the University of Indiana’s Fund Raising School.

Bruce was a member of Dick Anthony’s 16 Singing Men and has appeared as a soloist on Christian television programs spanning four decades – including The Old Time Gospel Hour, 100 Huntley Street, and the Christian Television Network. In the early 1990s, he entered the pastorate in Florida, where he hosted more than 900 senior adults every Friday for a morning of music and Gospel proclamation.

Together, Don and Bruce combine their skills to present Heritage of Hymns concerts that will enrich the lives of believers as they enjoy the message and musical harmonies of hymns that remain such a meaningful heritage to our Christian faith.

“‘Heritage of Hymns’ concerts are a welcomed gift to the body of Christ! ... I have known both of these men for several decades, and their gracious and winsome spirit is exceeded only by their talent to communicate through music. This is a ‘don’t miss it’ opportunity for us all!”

Jimmy Draper
President Emeritus, LifeWay

“I had a front row seat when I watched Bruce McCoy serve as president of the Missouri Baptist Convention, leading it through two turbulent years. He led with wisdom, dignity and a peaceful heart. To us in Missouri, Bruce is deemed a prince of a guy. You can trust him. He’s the real deal, true blue through and through.”

John Marshall
Pastor of Second Baptist Church, Springfield, Mo.

“The ‘Heritage of Hymns’ events, hosted by Bruce McCoy and Don Wyrtzen, will be a blessing to your congregation....”

Gerald Wolfe
Greater Vision

“Don Wyrtzen is a brilliant musician, a highly articulate and intelligent spokesman for the faith, and a well educated theologian.”

Bill Gaither
Artist and Songwriter

“Don Wyrtzen is among the most highly respected sacred musicians of his generation. He is gifted as a pianist, composer, arranger and theologian. Bruce McCoy has one of the best Irish tenor voices you will ever hear and sings each lyric from the heart. To have them both performing on the same platform is beyond wonderful! Expect a delight for both the ear and the soul.”

Dick Anthony
Gospel Musician/Composer

“Dr. Bruce McCoy is joining Dr. Don Wyrtzen in conducting hymn-sings and concerts around the country. Bruce is a Renaissance man who is a fine preacher with a pastor’s heart and a wonderful, passionate soloist. Don and Bruce are representing Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. I recommend them highly.”
