How are recipients chosen?
Dressed for Service is for wives of graduating students and graduating female students. All May and December graduates will receive an email from the Women’s Auxiliary team which explains the ministry of DFS with an application attached. Wives of graduating students are nominated by their husbands and single women may be nominated by a friend or mentor.

How much does it cost to sponsor a recipient?
Each outfit, complete with accessories, averages between $350-$500. Giving is flexible to allow you to donate throughout the year, either before or after the shopping trip. You may also choose to give a certain amount each month until the cost of the outfit is covered.  To give or apply to be a mentor, visit here.

What do mentors do on the group shopping event?
Mentors are invaluable to the shopping day experience!  Mentors are paired with a DFS recipient and help her select her “head-to-toe” ensemble, including outfit, shoes, and purse. Mentors provide encouragement, advice on colors, fit, and style, and wisdom. In addition, mentors accompany recipients to a complimentary lunch. Afterwards, mentors receive a card with the recipient’s contact information for future prayer support and connection as desired.

I am an alumna and past Dressed for Service recipient. How can I get involved?
We love hearing from alumna and past DFS recipients! Many of our group shopping trips are mini reunions as several alumna serve as financial supporters and/or mentors. To give and/or apply to be a mentor, visit here.

I am interested in donating to the Dressed for Service gift bags.  Who should I contact?
Thank you so much for your support!  Please email the Women’s Auxiliary team at mmeredith@swbts.edu.

What if I can only give a small amount?
That’s wonderful! All gifts are most welcomed. The DFS fund collects any money remaining after one recipient’s outfit has been purchased and uses it to help sponsor another recipient. To give, visit here.

I cannot assist financially at this time. Are there other ways I can help?
Yes!  Would you pray about donating your time to mentor a recipient on one of our group shopping days?  We would love for you to join us!  To apply to be a mentor, visit here.

Do I have to go shopping?
Not all of our financial supporters have the time or energy to go shopping; we understand. We connect with other ministry partners to accompany the recipients on group shopping days.
