FORT WORTH, Texas (SWBTS) – Distinguished Professor of Evangelism Emeritus Roy Fish, who was admitted into the ICU of a local hospital on Wednesday, has responded well to medical treatments and expects to be released soon. Matt Queen, assistant professor of evangelism at Southwestern, spoke with the family on Wednesday.
“After a phone conversation with Mrs. Fish today at 12:57 p.m. (CST),” Queen said, “I learned that Dr. Fish hopes to go home from the hospital tomorrow. Whenever he returns home from the hospital, Dr. Fish will receive care from a nursing professional a couple of days a week. When asked how they could be assisted, Mrs. Fish kindly requested prayer.”
The seminary received calls of concern Wednesday after comments on social media such as Twitter indicated that Fish would be under hospice care, which is typically used when an illness is terminal.
