Southwestern Seminary will host old-time camp meeting; program will feature Draper and Patterson, musical guests The Dixie Melody Boys
FORT WORTH, Texas (BP) -- Camp meetings are not a thing of the past—at least not at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.
The seminary will host its inaugural Camp Meeting April 20-21. The meeting will feature award-winning gospel artists The Dixie Melody Boys, Southwestern Sound, the musical recruiting team of Southwestern Seminary, and the preaching of Jimmy Draper, recently retired president of LifeWay Christian Resources.
Southwestern Seminary President Paige Patterson, who served as the president of the Southern Baptist Convention from 1998-2000, will also preach at the event.
Thomas White, director the seminary’s Center for Leadership Development where the meeting will be held, said the event offers opportunities for “hundreds of friends to eat meals, listen to award-winning music and sit under the preaching of one of Southern Baptists most beloved preachers.”
Cost for the event is $55 per person, and includes two breakfasts, two lunches, dinner on the first day, and the Dixie Melody Boys concert. The Center for Leadership Development also has 55 rooms available for a flat rate of $50 per night per room.
White said the camp meeting is ideal for large groups of senior adults and their ministers. He said that senior adult ministers who bring a group of 10 or more would receive a complimentary registration. Registration information is available at www.swbts.edu/conferences or by calling 1-877-474-GROW (4769).
