ILC | Journeyman

Purpose: As a part of Southwestern’s covenant to train spiritual leaders who will share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with all the world, we offer applicants returning from a 24-month assignment with the IMB the following scholarship opportunity:

International Learning Center (ILC) Preparatory Training 100% tuition (up to 6 hours)  
Returning Journeyman 100% tuition for 1st year of study 50% tuition for years 2-3 of study

Requirements:

  • ILC Applicants must be enrolled in the IMB ILC program and provide verification of enrollment. Additionally, ILC Applicants must agree to complete their academic program through Southwestern upon completion of their field of service.
  • Journeyman Applicants must provide a verification of current field service.* Additionally, Journeyman applicants must agree to complete their academic program through Southwestern upon completion of their field service.
  • Returning Journeymen must complete 24 months of service with the IMB and provide an official verification of service from the IMB. Returning Journeymen not previously enrolled in a degree-seeking program at SWBTS must do so within a year of field service in order to be eligible for the scholarship. The student shall complete the application and submit the verification of Journeyman status prior to the first term of enrollment. The scholarship will automatically be credited to registration for the following five semesters thereafter, provided the student continues to meet the criteria.
  • All Applicants (ILC/Journeyman/Returning Journeyman) must be citizens of the United States.
  • All Applicants must maintain a 3.0 GPA, remain in good standing with the seminary, and be committed to Full-Time Missions Service after graduation.

Scholarship Details: 

  • All elements of this scholarship (ILC, Journeyman, and Returning Journeyman) must be considered on-campus classes to be eligible for scholarship coverage.
  • The ILC scholarship provides 100% tuition up to 6 credit hours.
  • The Returning Journeyman scholarship provides scholarship for up to 15 credit hours per semester.
  • Scholarships cannot be applied retroactively.
  • The Missions scholarship covers only tuition and is applied after other scholarships and/or benefits.
  • Fall applications must be submitted by 1 August; spring applications by 1 December; summer applications by 1 May.

Current Missionaries

Southwestern is proud to partner with currently serving IMB or NAMB missionaries by subsidizing their tuition costs through the following scholarship:

Master's Studies

50% tuition

Up to 3 years of study

PhD Studies

30% tuition

Up to 4 years of study

DMin Studies

20% tuition

Up to 4 years of study

Requirements

  • Applicants must currently be on assignment  with the IMB or NAMB.
  • Applicants must apply and submit verification of employment, with dates of service, annually.*
  • Applicant must be a citizen of the United States.
  • Applicant must be a degree-seeking student.
  • Applicant must maintain a 3.0 GPA and be in good standing with the seminary.
  • If the applicant resigns from the IMB or NAMB, his/her scholarship will be forfeited.

Scholarship Details

  • The scholarship shall cover on-campus tuition (no fees) up to a maximum of 15 hours per semester.
  • The Research Doctoral Grant is the only SWBTS scholarship that may be used in conjunction with this scholarship.
  • Scholarships cannot be applied retroactively.
  • The student shall complete the application and submit the verification of employment prior to the first term of enrollment.
  • The Missions scholarship covers only tuition and is applied after other scholarships and/or benefits.

Fall applications must be submitted by 1 August; spring applications by 1 December; summer applications by 1 May.

 

Children of Current Missionaries

It is Southwestern’s desire to support current IMB and NAMB missionaries by providing a full tuition scholarship for the children of missionaries currently serving:

Undergraduate Degree

100% tuition

Completion of one degree

Max 4 years

Master's Degree

100% tuition

Completion of one degree

Max 3 years

Requirements

  • Applicants must be a child of a currently serving missionary on assignment with the IMB or NAMB.
  • Applicant must be under 30 years of age to receive benefits.
  • Applicants must apply and submit verification of parents’ employment, with dates of service, annually.*
  • The student shall complete the application and submit the verification of parents employment prior to the first term of enrollment.
  • Applicant must be a citizen of the United States.
  • Applicant must be a full-time degree-seeking student.
  • Applicant must maintain a 3.0 GPA and be in good standing with the seminary.
  • If the applicant’s parents resign from the IMB or NAMB, the scholarship will be forfeited.

Scholarship Details

  • The scholarship is available for the completion of one undergraduate degree and one master's level degree.
  • The scholarship shall cover tuition (no fees) up to 15 hours maximum per semester for on-campus classes only.
  • The Missions scholarship may not be combined with another SWBTS scholarship.
  • Scholarships cannot be applied retroactively.
  • The Missions scholarship covers only tuition and is applied after other scholarships and/or benefits.
  • Fall applications must be submitted by 1 August; spring applications by 1 December; summer applications by 1 May.
