Types of Individual Lessons

  1. First Year 1 and First Year 2: These two semesters of lessons are available for beginner students, Pre-K through 5th grade. Students receive 12 private, 30-minute, individual, one-on-one lessons, 3 group classes, and 1 recital performance. The discounted tuition rate allows a family to gage the interest of the student before pursuing further goals.
  2. Regular 30 or 45 minute lessons: These lessons are available for any non-beginner child or adult. Also, after a child participates in First Year 1 and First Year 2, they advance to Regular 30 or 45 minute lessons. These regular lessons provide 14 individual, one-on-one lessons, 1 group class, and 2 recital performances.

Instruments Taught

Piano, Voice, Violin, Guitar, Drums, and French Horn. Other instruments are by request and as teachers are available.


Classes

  1. Southwestern Children’s Choir – Tuesdays, 4:30-5:30 pm
    This choir is for children in grades 2nd through 10th. They meet for an hour once a week for 12 weeks each semester. The goals include learning to use proper singing techniques, enjoying making music with others, and performing in recitals and concerts at SWBTS. No audition is required.
  2. Southwestern Children’s Bell Ensemble – Saturdays, 1:00-2:00 pm
    This ensemble is for children in grades 2nd through 10th. They meet for an hour once a week for 12 weeks each semester. The goals are for the students to benefit from ensemble experiences, to discover the valuable knowledge of reading music, and to perform in recitals and performances at SWBTS. No audition is required.
  3. Preschool Music Classes
    There are two group classes for preschoolers. The first is a “caregiver and me” style class where the adult stays and participates in the class with the child. The ages are infant through 2 years old. The second class is for Pre-K children ages 3 through 5 years old. They participate in this class on their own to learn pier interaction and class learning skills. Classes meet once a week for a 6-week session. There will be two 6-week sessions in each semester.
  4. Home School Music Classes
    These classes invite homeschool children to participate in music making in a group setting. Kindergarten through 5th grade are welcome to attend. Focus will be on having fun while singing, playing instruments, and developing a trained listening ear. Classes meet once a week for a 6-week session. There will be two 6-week sessions in each semester.
