Revive this Nation is a historic program at Southwestern to send students and faculty who desire to leverage their Spring Break for the Gospel by preaching revivals. You will have an invaluable opportunity to preach a revival meeting and work with a pastor in an evangelistic community outreach. Southwestern will pay your travel expenses, and the host church will provide your lodging and meals. Churches all across the nation are planning revivals and want preachers from Southwestern to lead them. Class credit is available for undergraduate and graduate students. The course is designed to provide an introduction to text-driven preaching and prepare you to preach five evangelistic sermons. God is at work in churches around the country. It is our prayer that this movement of God would revive this nation.
Southwestern Seminary recruits churches to hold revival meetings in the spring and pays for the preacher’s roundtrip transportation to these churches.
The class will meet on Monday afternoons until Spring Break. The course is designed to prepare you to preach your revival sermons well. There will be an introduction to text-driven preaching, discussion on sermon delivery, and a focus on engaging the lost with the gospel.
The class will be charged at the same rate as your other courses per credit hour.
There are credit options for College and Graduate degrees. Enrollment is handled through the Student Services office and an interview must be conducted before you can be enrolled in the class.
RTN is open to churches in all fifty of the United States.
While churches are encouraged to apply online, a paper application may be obtained. Please contact us at 817.923.1921 x7500, if you prefer a paper application.
A church may cancel its revival. However, after January 20th, the church will be accountable to reimburse the cost of the student’s pre-paid ticket to Southwestern Seminary.
“There are two types of preparation. They are: organizational and spiritual. One may go to the extreme in either direction. We may place all our emphasis upon spiritual preparation and not succeed; or, on the other hand, we may place all emphasis upon organizational preparation and thoroughly fail.” (Autrey, C.E. Basic Evangelism. Grand Rapids: Zondervan, 1959, p. 107).
Churches should prepare spiritually by humbly seeking the Lord and praying for Him to send revival. Churches should prepare organizationally by spreading the Word in the community about the revival meetings and planning for food and lodging for the guest preacher. We will send more detailed resources to churches that will assist in preparing once we receive an application.
The first thing a church needs to do is to apply online indicating they wish to participate in Revive This Nation. To fill out an application, click here.
