Southwestern Seminary announces fall chapel schedule

The first day of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary’s fall semester is quickly approaching and the institution has announced the schedule for the 2024 fall chapel services with an emphasis on missions and faculty sermons from Psalms.

The chapel schedule begins with convocation on August 27, at which President David S. Dockery will present the convocation address, followed by the Chancellor’s Chapel on August 29, with O.S. Hawkins.

The schedule will then include a focus on missions in September, with Texas Baptist College missions professor Kevin Rodgers on September 3 and guest speaker Gordon Fort from the International Mission Board on September 5 as part of Global Missions Week. A globally engaged emphasis on September 10 will feature several of Southwestern Seminary’s missions faculty with Chandler Snyder, vice president for enrollment and student services, serving as moderator of the discussion. Globally engaged is one of six core values of the seminary.

Starting September 12, chapel services will feature sermons from the Old Testament book of Psalms preached by Southwestern Seminary and Texas Baptist College faculty.

A special day of prayer will be held on October 22. The chapel schedule concludes on November 21 with a student preacher to be announced later.

Chapel services start at the new time of 11 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the MacGorman Chapel and Performing Arts Center. Services will also be broadcast live at swbts.edu/live.
