Collegiate Disciple-Making

Students will engage with the Biblical basis for spiritual multiplication, consider approaches to collegiate disciple-making, examine various collegiate disciple-making movements, survey key methods and tools, and formulate specific strategies for developing disciple-making movements among college-aged adults.

Special Iss in Collegiate Min

Students will take part in a national or regional conference related to collegiate ministry and engage with topics related to the conference themes. Students will be assigned a conference portfolio project including a reading list, interviews with collegiate ministers, and a research paper related to the conference theme.

Notes: This class will occur in conjunction with Collegiate Week at Falls Creek Conference Center in Davis, OK, August 4-8, 2024. Students will attend the leaders track at Collegiate Week in addition to completing other assignments. Students must be available daily, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday afternoons during free time for additional class meetings. Times TBD. Free bunk-style housing is available for a limited number of students. Contact the instructor to reserve a spot. In addition to enrolling in the course, students must register themselves for Collegiate Week here and pay the registration fee. Early discounted registration ends May 31. Regular registration ends July 14. Late registration is available anytime. Students are responsible for their own meals. You may purchase a cafeteria meal plan for $85 through Falls Creek or contact the instructor to dine with Texas BSM at a lower cost.

Christian Leadership

A study of the biblical, theological, and practical foundations of Christian leadership in the context of the local church. Special attention is given to the necessary competencies to lead the church toward biblical effectiveness.

Crossover Evangelism

A practicum serves as a structured and significant educational experience that takes place in a church, institution, or community environment under the supervision of ministry mentors and the guidance of the Applied Ministry Division. This experience is intended to give students the opportunity to develop specialized skills in an actual ministry practice setting.

Intro to Expository Preaching

A study of the construction of sermons directly from a Biblical text. Advanced Expository Preaching

A continuation of PRCHG 3313, enhancing the development and delivery of the sermon. With the aid of videotape, the professor and peers evaluate student sermons. Additional emphasis is given to preaching the different genres of biblical literature. Prerequisites: BIBST 3203 and PRCHG 3313. The content of this course satisfies PRCHG 5322.
