RESEARCH INTEREST

Dr. Cabrera is interested in research projects in the follow areas: ecclesiology, pastoral theology, development of leaders.

Dr. Félix Cabrera was born on February 27, 1979, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He grew up in a Christian home and came to faith at the age of 17. From 2000 to 2005, he served as General Manager for several teams in Puerto Rico's Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN) and the country's Under-19 & Under-21 National Teams.

In the summer of 2010, he moved to Oklahoma. There, God placed on his heart a desire to start a Hispanic church in north Oklahoma City. After a year of study, relationship-building, and learning about the needs of the Hispanic community in that area, the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma (Oklahoma Baptists) and Quail Springs Baptist Church supported him in launching what is now known as Iglesia Bautista Central (Central Baptist Church).

In 2017, following Hurricane María's devastation in Puerto Rico, the Lord called him to return to the Island to establish Iglesia Bautista Ciudad de Dios (City of God Baptist Church) and join the efforts of Southern Baptists in Puerto Rico.

Pastor Félix holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) with a concentration in Management from the University of Puerto Rico, a Master of Arts (MA) with an emphasis in Pastoral Counseling from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary, a Master of Arts (MA) with an emphasis in Church Planting from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) with an emphasis in Leadership from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Within the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC), Dr. Cabrera has served as Second Vice President, a member of the Hispanic Leadership Council, a member of the Pastoral Council for Lifeway Español, co-founder of the Hispanic Baptist Pastors Alliance Council, and founder of the RED 1:8 (Network 1:8) Church Planting Network – a ministry that helped start over 40 churches. He has also served as Vice President for Send Network Español and as Regional Director for Puerto Rico for the North American Mission Board (NAMB). He currently serves as Executive Director of the ENDOS Network and as Associate Director for Hispanic Programs at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Three things drive his passion: developing, training, and sending leaders; seeing new healthy churches planted; and feeding, loving, and shepherding the flock the Lord places in his care.

By God's grace, he has been married since 2001 to the love of his life and ministry partner, Denisse. The fruit of their love are their princesses, Andrea Nicole and Adriana Victoria.

Meet Felix Cabrera

Felix Cabrera considers it a blessing to serve in two or three different positions.

“That’s the only way that I know how to do ministry, is as a pastor, as a professor involved in the academic environment, but also as a leader trying to develop the next generation of leaders, pastors, and church planters,” he explained.
