Southwestern Scholarship
The Southwestern Scholarship is available to degree-seeking Southwestern students who are active members of a Southern Baptist Church and who have an established 3.0 GPA. Priority will be given to full-time students who are taking on-campus courses. Failure to maintain scholarship requirements throughout the academic year may result in reduction or removal of the scholarship. Incoming students can apply upon acceptance for enrollment, and current students must apply annually during the Spring semester for the following academic year.
This is a $2,050 scholarship for tuition and fees that is divided into $1,025 for the Fall semester and $1,025 for the Spring semester.
To apply for this scholarship, please fill out the general financial aid application that opens on March 1st. The deadline for current students is May 1st and the deadline for new, incoming students is August 15th. Late submissions will not be considered.
Southwestern Partial Scholarship
The Southwestern Partial Scholarship is available to degree-seeking Southwestern students who are active members of a Southern Baptist Church and who have an established 3.0 GPA. Priority will be given to part-time students (six hours minimum) who are taking on-campus courses and full-time online students. Failure to maintain scholarship requirements throughout the academic year may result in reduction or removal of the scholarship. Incoming students can apply upon acceptance for enrollment, and current students must apply annually during the Spring semester for the following academic year.
This is a $1,230 scholarship for tuition and fees that is divided into $615 for the Fall semester and $615 for the Spring semester.

Southwestern High Achievers Scholarship
The Southwestern High Achievers Scholarship is available to degree-seeking Southwestern students who are active members of a Southern Baptist Church, have an established 3.75 GPA, are enrolled full-time (9 or more hours), and who are taking on-campus courses (no online courses, including FLEX courses, are eligible). Failure to maintain scholarship requirements throughout the academic year will result in reduction or removal of the scholarship. Incoming students can apply upon acceptance for enrollment, and current students must apply annually during the Spring semester for the following academic year.
This is a $3,100 scholarship for tuition and fees that is divided into $1,550 for the Fall semester and $1,550 for the Spring semester.

The Southwestern Preaching and Pastoral Ministry Scholarship
The Southwestern Preaching and Pastoral Ministry Scholarship is available to both incoming and current male students enrolled full-time in the M.Div. program in the School of Theology. Applicants must be active members of a Southern Baptist Church, studying and living on campus, and have a GPA of 3.5 or above.
Applicants must email a sermon manuscript and a two-page philosophy of pastoral ministry to the School of Theology at theology@swbts.edu after they have submitted their Financial Aid application. This scholarship is awarded per academic year and will cover 50% of the SBC tuition rate for 9 hours of on-campus courses in both the Fall and Spring semesters, $1550 for the Fall, $1550 for the Spring.
General Scholarship Information:
- Students must re-apply for financial aid each academic year.
- Applying for a scholarship is not a guarantee that a scholarship will be awarded.
- Scholarships will be reviewed in the order in which they are received and are awarded based on eligibility requirements and scholarship funding for the academic year.
- You must maintain the stated scholarship requirements throughout each Fall and Spring semester to remain eligible to receive a scholarship. Failure to do so may result in the reduction or removal of the scholarship.
- Scholarships cannot be applied retroactively.
- Students may only be awarded one institutional scholarship per academic year.
- Non degree-seeking students are not eligible to receive financial aid.
- Students in the continuation phase (those being billed the continuation fee) of their degree or taking a Leave of Absence (LOA) are not eligible to receive institutional scholarships.
