‘SBTC Day’ set for March 19

The Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary will host leaders of the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention for “SBTC Day” on March 19, featuring Jim Richards, SBTC executive director, preaching in chapel; other SBTC staff teaching in seminary classes; and free breakfast tacos.

“Since the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention is a key Great Commission partner of Southwestern Seminary, I’m delighted that our students will experience heightened exposure to the SBTC’s vital ministries during this special day of recognition,” said Adam W. Greenway, president of Southwestern Seminary. “I hope our seminary and college students will avail themselves of this special opportunity to learn more about the SBTC and pray about how they may be involved.”

In addition to Richards preaching in chapel, SBTC Day will feature:

— 10 other SBTC staff members teaching in classes at the seminary and Scarborough College,

— a booth display in MacGorman Chapel with materials about SBTC, and

— free breakfast tacos prepared by the SBTC Disaster Relief Rapid Response Food Truck, 7:30-9:50am, located on the east side of the Robert E. Naylor Student Center (between the Student Center and Barnard Hall).

“The Southern Baptists of Texas Convention is excited to join together around the tent pole of confessional fellowship with Dr. Adam Greenway and The Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary’s ‘big-tent’ vision,” said Kenneth Priest, director of convention strategies for SBTC.

“Since our founding, Dr. Jim Richards has focused the SBTC around the core values of being biblically based, kingdom focused, and missionally driven,” added Priest, who is also interim director of Southwestern Seminary’s Center for Church Revitalization. “This unique opportunity to have a ‘SBTC Day’ at SWBTS permits us to be a part of theological education, assisting those who are future pastors, missionaries, denominational leaders, and other church staff to better connect with the role and purpose of the state convention to move forward with the Gospel and finish the unfinished task.”
