According to recent data, South Korea is among the world’s top countries that send missionaries throughout the world. Southwestern graduate Jae Kyeong Lee, who currently serves as president of the Foreign Baptist Mission Board of the Korea Baptist Convention, recently spoke with CBN News, saying that Korea’s position as one of the “greatest exporters” of the Gospel is a reflection of the Korean church’s prioritization of prayer.

Lee explains that it is the tradition of many churches to attend daily early morning prayer gatherings, and through these gatherings, God calls many into ministry. Lee concludes that whatever the future may hold for Korea and the Christian church, he is “confident that God will continue to accomplish great things through the Korean church as we fix our eyes on Him.”

Southwestern has spiritually invested in the nation of Korea for many years, with more than 300 Korean students currently enrolled in the seminary. Southwestern also has several Korean faculty members: Dongsun Cho, Donald Kim, Jeremiah Kim, Yoon-Mi Lim, Aaron Son, Tom Song, and John Yeo.
