Southwestern Seminary announces spring 2021 chapel speakers
Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary released today its spring 2021 semester chapel speaker list after previously announcing it will resume chapel services in a Jan. 11 video message from President Adam W. Greenway to the seminary community.
“To say the least, we have been through an unprecedented year of disruption and adversity, but God has continued to show Himself faithful to our seminary,” Greenway said in the video message. “… I am excited about having the chance to begin to gather together as a seminary and college community for campus worship.”
In a later statement elaborating on the importance of the chapel experience in theological education, Greenway said, “Given that worship is central to the Christian life, it must also be a key part of our students’ educational experience as they prepare to lead others both in and to worship. Chapel is an integral part of forming ministers of the Gospel for more faithful service.”
Starting with the Jan. 27 convocation service, chapel will take place Wednesdays at 10 a.m. CT in MacGorman Chapel, with the exception of Thursday, February 11, during which time the seminary will be hosting the annual meeting of the Southern Baptist Convention Fellowship of State Executive Directors. Previously, chapel services were held on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The spring semester chapel services will be the seminary’s first chapel services since March 2020, when COVID-19 disrupted all on-campus gatherings.
COVID-19 protocols and precautions will be observed, including face masks and socially distanced seating. Services will also be livestreamed at swbts.live.
