Southwestern welcomes new appointed and elected faculty for 2017-18 school year

For the fall 2017 semester, Southwestern Seminary will welcome two new appointed faculty and six new elected faculty.

Appointed Faculty

• Yu Wen (Grace) Lee has been appointed assistant professor of childhood education in the Jack Terry School of Church and Family Ministries. Lee earned her Bachelor of Education from National Chengchi University in Taipei, Taiwan; Master of Education in School Counseling at Abilene Christian University; Master of Education and Ph.D. in Special Education at the University of North Texas; and the Ph.D. in Foundations of Education at Southwestern. Lee previously served as an adjunct instructor at Southwestern and as a Chinese and English teacher at a number of secondary schools and the University of North Texas. She has also served as a translator and transcriber of sermons at a number of churches.

• Daniel Weaver has been appointed assistant professor of spiritual formation and assistant dean of administration in Scarborough College. Weaver completed his Bachelor of Science in Consumer Science at the University of Alabama, his Master of Divinity at Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary, and his Ph.D. in Preaching at Southwestern. Weaver previously served as administrative assistant to the dean in Scarborough College and taught in an adjunctive role. He also has served as an area representative for the DFW Fellowship of Christian Athletes and in various church ministries in the areas of senior adult, college/career, education, and preschool ministry.

Elected Faculty

• Matt Harrison has been elected assistant professor of foundations of education in the Jack Terry School of Church and Family Ministries. Harrison completed his Bachelor of Science in Communication at Kennesaw State University, his Master of Divinity and Master of Theology at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and his Master of Arts in Christian Education and Ph.D. in Foundations of Education at Southwestern. Harrison has served in various capacities in the registrar’s offices at Southeastern and Southwestern. He also has served in a variety of ministry positions including pastor, worship leader and student minister.

• Justin Hiester has been elected assistant professor of missions in Scarborough College. Hiester completed his Bachelor of Science in Meteorology at Texas A&M University; his Master of Divinity at Jordan Evangelical Theological Seminary in Amman, Jordan; and his Ph.D. in Missions and Islamic Studies at Southwestern. Hiester is also a distinguished graduate of the United States Air Force Squadron Officer School. Previously, he has served at Southwestern in an adjunctive role. Hiester has experience as a pastor in the local church, a missionary, and a fighter pilot and instructor pilot in the United States Air Force.

• Nathan Holsteen has been elected professor of systematic theology in the School of Theology. Holsteen completed his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering at Louisiana State University, his Master of Theology at Dallas Theological Seminary (DTS), and his Ph.D. in Systematic Theology at the University of Aberdeen. Holsteen previously served as professor of theological studies at DTS. He has served as the editor and co-author of several books and written a number of essays and articles in the area of Christian theology. Holsteen has served the local church in a variety of roles. Prior to his role in theological education, he worked for a number of years as an engineer for General Dynamics and Lockheed Martin.

• Ethan Jones has been elected assistant professor of Old Testament in Scarborough College. Jones completed his Bachelor of Arts in Christian Studies and Philosophy at Mississippi College and his Master of Divinity and Ph.D. in Old Testament at Southwestern. He has also completed additional studies at Goethe-Institut in Göttingen, Germany. Previously, Jones taught in an adjunctive role at Southwestern, and he has also served in the local church as a college and young adult pastor and as discipleship pastor.

• Brandon Kiesling has been elected assistant professor of evangelism in the Roy Fish School of Evangelism and Missions. Kiesling completed his Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies at Hannibal-LaGrange College and his Master of Divinity and Ph.D. in Evangelism and Church Vitalization at Southwestern. Kiesling previously taught in an adjunctive role at Southwestern and has served in the Office of Doctoral Programs in the Fish School. He also has ministry experience serving as pastor and minister of youth.

• Andrew Streett has been elected associate professor of biblical studies in the School of Theology. Streett completed his Bachelor of Arts in Religion and Philosophy at Hillsdale College, his Master of Arts in Biblical and Theological Studies at Criswell College, his Master of Library Science at the University of North Texas, and his Ph.D. in Religious and Theological Studies at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David.  He previously served in faculty roles at Criswell College and Redeemer Seminary. Streett has also served the local church as associate pastor. He has contributed a number of writings and presentations in the area of biblical studies.
