Applications for Revive the Nation (RTN) are being received now. We are currently at capacity for churches to host RTN. If you are a student, please sign up to help serve these churches.
Revive the Nation is a historic Southwestern Seminary initiative that equips and sends students and faculty who desire to leverage their free time for the Gospel by serving churches across the nation. You will have an invaluable opportunity to gain practical ministry experience, build ministry connections, receive field mentoring, and participate in community outreach in partnership with local churches. Southwestern Seminary will pay your travel expenses, and the host church will provide your lodging and meals. Churches all across the country are hoping to host Southwestern Seminary students who will model Gospel behavior and lead the church in evangelistic outreach. Class credit is available for undergraduate and graduate student participants. God is at work in churches around the nation. It is our prayer that this movement of God would reach the nations.
The class will meet on Monday afternoons until the Monday following Spring Break. The course is designed to prepare your specific ministry assignment. There will be an introduction to the course, general discussion, class breakout sessions tailored towards specific assignment, and a focus on engaging the lost with the gospel.
The class will be charged at the same rate as your other courses per credit hour.
Students must be interviewed before they can be enrolled in the class. Students must take the class for credit the first time they participate in RTN. There are credit options for college and graduate degrees.
Texas Baptist College students will enroll in EVA-2453-A if they have never taken the class for credit. If they have already taken the course for credit and passed it, they may register for EVA-2450-I.
Southwestern Seminary students wanting to take the class for Evangelism credit will enroll in one of the following sections: EVANG-5453-A/I. If they have already taken the course for credit and passed it, they may register for one of the following sections: EVANG-5450-A/I.
If they want to take the class for Preaching credit, they will enroll in one of the following sections: PRCHG-5363-A/I. If they have already taken the course for credit and passed it, they may register for one of the following sections: PRCHG-5360-A/I.
RTN is open to churches in all fifty of the United States.
While churches are encouraged to apply online, a paper application may be obtained. Please contact us at 817.923.1921 x8642 if you prefer a paper application.
A church may cancel its application. However, after January 20th, the church will be accountable to reimburse the cost of the student’s pre-paid ticket to Southwestern Seminary.
“There are two types of preparation. They are: organizational and spiritual. One may go to the extreme in either direction. We may place all our emphasis upon spiritual preparation and not succeed; or, on the other hand, we may place all emphasis upon organizational preparation and thoroughly fail.” (Autrey, C.E. Basic Evangelism. Grand Rapids: Zondervan, 1959, p. 107).
Churches should prepare spiritually by humbly seeking the Lord and praying for Him to send revival. Churches should prepare organizationally by spreading the Word in the community about upcoming opportunities and planning for food and lodging for the guest preacher. We will send more detailed resources to churches that will assist in preparing once we receive an application.
The first thing a church needs to do is to apply online indicating they wish to participate in Revive The Nation. To fill out an application, click here.
