Dietmar W. Schulze

Ruhr-Universität Bochum, 2005, Doktor der Theologie; Universität Hamburg, 1996, Magister der Theologie

Dr. Schulze serves as Associate Professor of Missions at the Bonn, Germany Extension, School of Theology.

Dietmar W. Schulze has been teaching in the USA, Germany and online in missions, world Christian studies, theology, intercultural communication, religious studies, German and English.

He was born and raised in a Christian home. In the age of 12, Dietmar received the assurance of salvation and was baptized. He became a follower of Jesus Christ, a born-again Christian, and a Baptist in the fourth generation. When he was 16, he survived three life-endangering situations in one week. This experience has made Dietmar curious about God’s plan for his life. On his 20th birthday in a German military training camp, he received the call to vocational ministry.

Dietmar W. Schulze studied Theology at five different seminaries and received the degrees Magister der Theologie (equivalent to Th.M.) with an emphasis on Missions. He later obtained the doctoral degree Doktor der Theologie which is equivalent to a Ph.D. His research was in Systematic Theology and World Christianity. In the dissertation about Baptists in Northeast India, Dr. Schulze used empirical methods to identify patterns of religious belief to answer the question: “What is a Baptist?” The dissertation was later published.

Dietmar has worked as pastor for ten years in two Baptist churches in Germany and served in different denominational ministries. His cross-cultural experience includes living as a West German in former East Germany few years after the unification, and overseas in India and Texas.

In addition to his teaching responsibilities at Southwestern and Bibelseminar Bonn, he is the director of the BSB eCampus that offers online- and distant learning programs. Dr. Schulze is the editor of BSB-Journal and has developed with a team SwitchPoint, a program that assists students in finding their calling and helps them in making a career choice. With others he started the regional REACH-conference for evangelism and church planting. Dietmar has been preaching in various churches.
