Dr. Duvall serves as senior professor of New Testament at Southwestern Seminary. Dr. Duvall also serves as the Fuller professor of New Testament at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia Arkansas, where is he also served as dean of the Pruet School of Christian Studies from 1999-2007. His research interests include spiritual formation, biblical interpretation, the book of Revelation, the life of Christ, and New Testament Greek.

Dr. Duvall is the author or editor of numerous books including, Living God’s Word: Discovering our Place in God’s Story, 2nd Edition (Zondervan, 2021), Journey into God’s Word: Your Guide to Understanding and Applying the Bible, 2nd Edition (Zondervan, 2020), Grasping God’s Word: A Hands-On Approach to Reading, Interpreting, and Applying the Bible, 2nd Edition (Zondervan, 2020), Baker Illustrated Guide to the Bible (Baker, 2016), The Baker Illustrated Bible Background Commentary (Baker, 2020), and God’s Relational Presence: The Cohesive Center of Biblical Theology (Baker, 2019), which were all co-authored or co-edited with J. Daniel Hays. He is also the author of The Heart of Revelation: Understanding the Ten Essential Themes of the Bible’s Final Book (Baker, 2015) and Revelation (Baker, 2014) in the Teach the Text commentary series.

Dr. Duvall has contributed journal articles for The Criswell Theological Review, New Testament Philology, and the Southwestern Journal of Theology. He is a member of the Society of Biblical Literature, the Institute for Biblical Research, and the Evangelical Theological Society.

He is married to Judy and they have three grown daughters.
