Dr. Taylor serves as professor of New Testament and associate dean for the School of Theology. His research and writing focus on the epistle of James, New Testament Critical Methods, and 1 Corinthians.
Dr. Taylor is the author 1 Corinthians (B&H, 2014) and A Text-Linguistic Investigation into the Discourse Structure of James (T&T Clark, 2006). He has published articles in Currents in Biblical Research, Catholic Biblical Quarterly, and the Southwestern Journal of Theology. He also wrote the section on 1 Corinthians for the Baker Illustrated Bible Background Commentary (Baker, 2020).
Dr. Taylor is a member of the Evangelical Theological Society, Institute of Biblical Research, and Society of Biblical Literature.
Dr. Taylor has served as Pastor and Interim Pastor in Arkansas and Texas. He and his family attend Travis Avenue Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas.

Meet Mark E. Taylor
While Mark E. Taylor, associate dean of the School of Theology and professor of New Testament at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, has had many pinnacles in his nearly 25 years at the seminary, he said that ultimately, it is “the student in the classroom, that’s the high point.”
